All You Need To Know About MIUI 10

At an event held in China, Xiaomi unveiled the next version of its Android ROM — MIUI 10 along with the launch of new smartphones variants: Mi 8, Mi 8 Explorer Edition, and the Mi 8 SE.

And the Global MIUI 10 is coming on June 7. i.e., Tomorrow. Only 1 days to go.

The latest version of MIUI comes with some major design changes and new features. This update will bring performance improvements, several AI-based features and take advantage of the full-screen bezel-less displays. So let’s take a look at all new features in MIUI 10.

What’s new in MIUI 10?

1New Recent Apps Menu

The recent apps menu has been redesigned to utilizes the high screen-to-body ratio and display more apps on the screen at once through a 2×2 app list.

2New layout for notification bar

There are many leaks online regarding the notification bar design and yes it was real. Frankly, i have to say that it is really similar to Iphone IOS, but still i love this design compare to previous MIUI 9. It looks much more elegant and futuristic.

3New features in MIUI Lab

>Car Mode
The new added feature is Car mode which allows you to interact with MI AI to help you to navigate your route, answer calls, play music, read WeChat messages by just replying with your voice. Sounds pretty cool. However, this feature is still under beta testing, you need to participate in order to experience this feature.

Car Mode>Super Resolution
Meanwhile, there’s another feature is called Super resolution which allowing the image you sent through social media much more crisper and sharper. You will also needed to download WeChat or Toutiao app in order to experience this feature.

Though I don’t think this feature will come to Global Version.

4New Weather App interface

Many Not just the recent tray UI changed, the weather app interface has changed as well. Looks more tidy and beautiful compare to MIUI 9.

5Volume Bar UI

Volume Bar UI are redesigned. In MIUI 9, the volume bar is diplay on top centre, we need to press the arrow icon to have addtional settings for Silent mode and DND. In MIUI 10, the volume bar displayed on the right side and we need press the 3 dots to have extra settings for silent mode and DND. We can just swipe through countdown bar for time selection in MIUI 10. Again it was similar to IOS.

Time duration selection are same from 30 minutes, 1 hours, 2 hours, 8 hours or unlimited. The difference between Silent mode and DND mode is silent mode prevent ringtones sound from  incoming calls and notifications, whereas DND mode deactivate the sounds and  vibration for all aspects except the alarm clock. Let’s say if we select time duration for 30 minutes, a countdown timer will appear and shows the time taken how long it will be deactivated. After the time ends, it will return to the normal state.

6Notification App icons and Battery Charging icons

Battery charging icon has been revamped from normal battery icon in MIUI 9 to a lightning sign in the middle of Battery icon in MIUI 10. App icons in Notification bar also changed as well. In MIUI 10,Carrier name no longer display in Home screen, it is only can be seen in locks reen.

7AI Portraits

Bokeh effect in portrait mode has become quite popular. So Xiaomi has seized this opportunity to bring an interesting AI portrait mode feature. Instead of relying on the hardware, AI will be used to bring portrait mode to several smartphones and work well on phones without dual cameras.

8AI Preload

As the name suggests, artificial intelligence will be used to improve performance by analyzing app usage of user and preload the apps according to it. The company says this feature would reduce app loading times up to zero in some cases.

9Other Minor Changes

The unlock pattern are now enlarged, background colour for calling changed from green to white and also the setting app backgorund colour changed as well.

Calculator UI has been changed, in MIUI 9 you will need click the top right button to choose other function, in MIUI 10, you can switch to another mode by swiping the screen left.

The Clock interface changed as well, look so cool in dark background.
